About Invenio Research
Invenio Research provides expert research services and consultancy in a wide range of legal, criminological and socio-legal matters, particularly those with a high technological content. It adopts a broad multi-disciplinary approach to its research, drawing on the expertise of its team of lawyers (academic as well as practising barristers and solicitors), criminologists, sociologists, psychologists and statisticians where appropriate in order to give the best range of expert opinion to the specific needs of the project.
Its research projects have included:
- the impact of Chip and PIN technology on fraudulent behaviour
- the rise of identity theft as organised crime
- the general impact of the internet on criminal activity encompassing such diverse areas as drug-dealing and football hooliganism
- the nature and extent of e-crime
- the acquisition of identity information via domestic burglary
- public perceptions of dishonesty.
Invenio also offers a range of academic research support services including literature search and review, focus group facilitation, digital audio recording and transcription, digital video recording, trial reenactment and jury deliberation observation.
It works with commercial and public sector organisations, academics in universities and complementary research foundations, law firms and central and local government.
Invenio Research was formed from the research division of the 1871 Group which was founded in 2001.
